The Two Fatalities Identified in the Ivy League School Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting in Providence were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

The weekend's murders at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about over seven thousand undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to data.
