Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global break, however will the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

My son advised me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
