Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his recent interview.

What Happened

Salah was left out from a vital match after making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”

The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

Looking Ahead

The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.

He also suggested that a player's desire to start is preferable. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”

On-Field Response

The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to harm the team.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and securing victories.”
