Brian Eno Urges Support to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
